Just for Parents
Pastor Ken once asked the question to the congregation "If you were accused of being a Christian in court, would there be enough evidence to convict you?"
Would you agree that in almost any trial that eyewitness testimony is the most significant piece of evidence presented to the jury? If your child were called to testify, how would they respond to questioning about you?
Tips for Showing Christ to your Youth:
- Speak openly about your faith. Either directly to your child or within ear shot of your child with spouse or other adult.
- Take back control of the car stereo with music that represents your beliefs.
- Create oppurtunities for prayer. Prayer at meal times and daily devotionals is also a good time for your teen to express things they are experiencing in thier lives and ask questions.
- Trust that God is working in them even when you can't see it. They'll pick up more than you know.
- No matter what the circumstances you can count on there being other parents experiencing the same issues. The Bible encourages us to seek counsel.
John 14:25-27
25 "All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
